Massive Fire Engulfs Norwood Window Factory Near Trójmiasto, 80 Firefighters Respond

A massive fire broke out just after midnight on Thursday, Oct. 16 at the Norwood window factory in Rusocin, near Trójmiasto, Poland, prompting an emergency response of 80 firefighters.

Rusocin: Window Factory Fire

Firefighters received an alarm just after midnight on Thursday, 16 October, about a blaze at the Norwood window factory on Rataja Street in Rusocin, a municipality in Gdańsk County, Pomeranian Voivodeship. Factory workers detected the fire and evacuated 13 people before the emergency units arrived. No injuries were reported.

Fire Contained After 5 a.m.

By 5 a.m., officials confirmed the fire was no longer spreading. The remaining crews focused on containing the remains. The hall, measuring 50 by 80 metres, collapsed, and a machine inside the building is believed to have sparked the flare‑up. The blaze spread quickly at first.

DK91 Blocked; Residents Advised

Traffic on DK91 from the Rusocin roundabout to the intersection with Rataja Street, and the street itself, remains closed for several hours while police reroute vehicles. There is currently no toxic smoke threat, but residents of Cieplewo are asked not to open windows.
