At roughly 2:40 p.m. on Wiejska Street in Warsaw’s Śródmieście, an unknown assailant hurled a burning Molotov cocktail at the front door of the Platforma Obywatelska headquarters, with authorities now searching for the culprit.
Incident at PO Headquarters
At about 2:40 p.m. on 12a Wiejska, the front door of the Platforma Obywatelska office building was struck by a burning Molotov cocktail. No injuries were reported and the site was secured promptly.
Witness Testimony
Parliamentary deputy Witold Zembaczyński, present as a witness, said he saw a man throw the device, ignite it, shout comments about the Platforma Obywatelska, and hurl glass toward him.
The assailant fled the scene immediately after the incident.
Police Investigation and Evidence
Police have seized surveillance footage and are conducting an on‑scene examination. A manhunt is underway for the suspect or suspects.
Fire was contained near the doors, and security services neutralised the threat quickly.
Legal Implications and Prosecution
The preliminary legal assessment will depend on evidence collected. Because the device included a flammable liquid, charges could involve endangering life, health, or property. The prosecutor will determine any expanded charges after reviewing footage and inspection results.
Political Fallout
The deputy described the act as a “scandal” and urged anyone who may have seen the fleeing suspect or holds dash‑cam footage from 14:30–15:00 to contact the investigative unit.
