Ukrainian Citizen Ivan R. Handed Over to Poland on European Arrest Warrant

On 15 October 2025 German authorities transferred Ukrainian national Ivan R. to Poland under a European Arrest Warrant after a murder investigation at an abandoned site on Grzybowska Street in Warsaw.

Transfer to Polish authorities

German officials released Ivan R. to Poland on 15 October 2025 following the completion of the ENA procedure, according to prosecutor Katarzyna Calów‑Jaszewska.

Initial arrest in Germany

R. was detained on 15 May 2025 at 9:20 a.m. in Germany in connection with the murders at the abandoned site on Grzybowska 71, Warsaw.

International cooperation

Prosecutors cited collaboration between the Gorzów Wielkopolski Regional Police Search and Identification Section, Warsaw Police Headquarters, and the ENFAST network as key to securing R.

Ongoing investigation

The Masovian Division of the National Prosecutor’s Office now leads the case, which began with the discovery of four men’s bodies in April 2024 at the Grzybowska site.

Court measures and warrants

The Warsaw Mokotów District Court placed R. under provisional detention for 14 days, while the Warsaw District Prosecutor issued a supervisory and a European Arrest Warrant after a search order.

Suspected offenses

R. is suspected of intentional homicide (Article 148 §1) related to a man whose remains were found on 7 April 2024, and of assault (Article 158 §1) against a man known as “Ryży”.

Other suspects

Eleven individuals are listed as suspects; Andrii S. and Ion B. face homicide charges, while seven others, including Paweł M., Viktoria V., and Iryna S‑P., are charged with failure to report a crime (Article 240 §1). Maksyma H. is charged with participation in the assault.
