Bicyclist Critically Injured After Collision at Pedestrian Crossing in Józefów

On Oct. 17 at about 6:20 p.m., a bicyclist was struck by a Toyota at a pedestrian crossing on Piłsudskiego Street in Józefów, leaving him in critical condition and prompting a rescue helicopter.

Accident Location and Timing

On 17 October, around 18:20, an incident occurred on Piłsudskiego Street in Józefów, Otwock County, where a bicyclist collided with a car at a pedestrian crossing.

Sequence of Events

The cyclist rode his bicycle through the zebra crossing without the traffic light being activated and without dismounting. At that moment, a driver of a Toyota was crossing the same intersection, resulting in a collision that struck the cyclist.

Medical Evacuation

The cyclist sustained severe injuries and was airlifted to a Warsaw hospital for treatment. He is currently in critical condition.

Emergency Responders

Firefighters, a medical rescue team, a helicopter from the Air Rescue Service (LPR), and police arrived at the scene. Officers secured the area while firefighters provided lighting for the investigation.

Traffic Disruption

The road was closed for approximately three hours, causing a temporary interruption of traffic flow.
