In Łódź, the prosecutor’s office has evicted a resident cat, Krzyś, citing safety concerns after the animal attacked a dog on September 23, and a formal statement on the incident was released.
Incident That Triggered Eviction
Cat Krzyś was well known to employees and visitors of the Łódź Regional Prosecutor’s Office. The animal had taken residence in the building, was fed and cared for, and seemingly lived peacefully. On September 23 last year, a dog was brought into the premises; Krzyś confronted the dog, resulting in a prosecutor being injured. The cat was immediately taken to a veterinarian and quarantined.
Official Statement
Spokesperson Krzysztof Kopania said the September event caused multiple bites on one employee, necessitating treatment, antibiotics, and several vaccinations. He emphasized that the prosecutor’s building is a fast‑paced environment where dogs may serve as guides or be involved in official duties, exposing the cat to various stimuli. He described the range of personnel—lawyers, police, and other services—present in the building and highlighted the unpredictability of the cat’s reactions.
Future Plans for Krzyś
The spokesperson clarified that the decision to have the cat vacate the building is solely for safety. He stressed that the cat will not become homeless but will be relocated to a caretaker who can provide proper care and a home. The cat currently waits for a new guardian at the prosecutor’s office, and interested parties can contact the Regional Prosecutor’s Office at Lipowa 81 or Piotrkowska 151.
