Poles Met CIA Before Trump‑Zelensky Meeting, “Hard Response”

Poles met CIA officials in Warsaw ahead of the Trump‑Zelensky summit, signalling a hard‑line stance toward NATO’s eastern flank.

CIA Meeting in Warsaw

Poland’s Military Counterintelligence Service (SKW) chief met the director of the CIA in Warsaw, confirmed by the news site “Fakt” and sources close to Polish security services. The meeting was arranged by the Americans, but officials said the details are not in the interest of allied states.

Implications for NATO’s Eastern Shift

Dr. Edward Haliżak of the Polish Society for International Studies stated the meeting signals a hard‑line response and reflects the ongoing integration of Polish and U.S. military factors, shifting NATO’s conceptual and operational burden to the East and positioning Poland as a key player.

Haliżak further suggested Washington has lost faith in regular negotiations with Russia and is preparing a hard response by returning to the Cold War strategy of containment, which involved economic, financial and military aid and regional defense agreements such as NATO.

Trump‑Zelensky Summit

Later that day, former President Donald Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Washington. Axios described the meeting as “difficult”, noting Trump was hard but no shouting; the talks lasted more than two hours, ending with Trump’s “I think we’re done” statement and leaving the outcome uncertain.
