Police in Tarnów, Poland, detained their own traffic division chief last week for alleged speeding, and a disciplinary proceeding has now opened against the officer.
Officer Allegedly Exceeded 100 km/h
Portal Temi.pl said that last week the traffic division chief of KMP Tarnów reportedly accelerated to about 100 km/h while driving in the residential area of Olszyny in Tarnów County.
Colleagues Detained Him
The chief was stopped by fellow officers from his own command. They produced a control report that was forwarded to the Kraków Police Headquarters.
Fine, Points and Licence Suspension Imposed
Police in Nowy Sącz issued a 1,500‑zł fine, 13 penalty points and a three‑month driving licence suspension. The chief was also removed from his post and a disciplinary investigation was opened.
Disciplinary Action Against Arresting Officers
Radio Kraków reported that a separate disciplinary inquiry was launched against the officers who arrested the chief after finding irregularities in their control report and missing camera recordings of their actions. Two junior officers, reportedly stressed, failed to activate their body‑camera; a third officer did activate it.
