Tusk’s New Party Excludes the Greens

The new party emerging from the merger of PO, Nowoczesna, and Polska Inicjatywa will not include the Greens. The party’s spokesperson Michał Suchora stressed that they were not invited and would not join even if offered. Suchora added that the Greens operate on a different international political spectrum.

Greens in the Civic Coalition

Since 2019, the Greens have had MPs elected from the Civic Coalition’s lists. Formal decisions on merging PO, Nowoczesna, and Polish Initiative will be ratified at a convention on October 25, with a new party name being set. General secretary Marcin Kierwiński said details would be presented by Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

Greens’ Own Convention

The Greens hold a convention in the Łódź Special Economic Zone to elect leadership. Incumbent co‑chair Urszula Zielińska lost her position, and Michał Suchora, the current spokesperson, was nominated to become co‑chair. He announced a commitment to further implement the Greens’ proposals in the coming two years.
