Israel’s air force reportedly carried out a series of strikes over Rafah in Gaza, while the 10‑September cease‑fire between Israel and Hamas faces accusations of multiple breaches.
Jerusalem Post Reports Israeli Airstrikes on Gaza
According to the Jerusalem Post, the Israeli air force was to conduct a series of attacks on Rafah, Gaza, in response to a Hamas anti‑tank missile fired toward Israeli forces. The report also notes a phone conversation between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz that took place in the presence of army members.
Violations of the 10‑September Cease‑fire
On 10 September Israel and Hamas reached a cease‑fire agreement that called for the release of prisoners and hostages by both sides and the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza. Palestinian claim that the Israeli army has breached the terms 47 times since that date, killing 38 Palestinians and wounding 143. They further say that the Rafah crossing, which has been used to bring humanitarian aid to Gaza, will remain closed until all hostages’ bodies are returned by Hamas, of which 12 of 28 have been released.
Rafah Border Crossing Status
The Israeli authorities have announced that the Rafah crossing will stay closed until Hamas provides the bodies of all hostages. The humanitarian corridor continues to be blocked, limiting aid inflow to Gaza.
Prisoner and Hostage Releases
Under the cease‑fire terms, Hamas released 20 Israeli hostages, while Israel freed more than 1,900 Palestinian prisoners, according to their own releases.
