Poles Divided Over Ukraine’s Chances of Winning War Against Russia

A United Surveys poll released by Wirtualna Polska shows that only 30 % of Poles believe Ukraine can win its conflict with Russia, while 60 % think otherwise, according to data from 10–13 October 2025.

Overall Poll Results

Polish respondents were asked whether Ukraine can win the war against Russia. 29.9 % answered yes, with 7.7 % definitely yes and 22.2 % somewhat yes. 60.1 % answered no, 39.7 % somewhat no and 20.4 % definitely no; 10 % had no opinion.

Views of Ruling Coalition Voters

Half of voters who identified with the governing coalition said they believe Kyiv will win. 11 % answered definitely yes and 39 % somewhat yes; the rest were more skeptical.

Views of Opposition Voters

Opposition‑inclined voters were less optimistic: 20 % answered affirmatively, while 41 % somewhat no and 27 % definitely no.

Russian Attack on Dnipropetrovsk Mine

On Sunday Ukrainian media reported that almost 200 miners were trapped underground at a DTEK Group mine following a Russian strike in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Evacuation operations are underway.

Additional Russian Attacks on Energy Infrastructure

Within the last two months, Russia has intensified assaults on Ukraine’s energy system as winter approaches, crippling critical infrastructure and cutting power to hundreds of thousands of households. Kyiv is bracing for another wave of outages, which President Volodymyr Zelensky described as an “energy catastrophe.”

Survey Methodology

The United Surveys poll, commissioned by IBRiS for Wirtualna Polska, was conducted on 10–13 October 2025 using computer‑aided telephone and online questionnaires. It surveyed 1,000 adult Poles representing the country’s gender, age and regional composition.
