Russian Embassy Car Crashes onto Roof in Warsaw

A Russian embassy staff Dacia crashed into barriers and toppled onto a roof on Warsaw’s Wisłostrad street on Saturday night, after losing control.

Detail of the Incident

On 18 October at 19:06, a Dacia driven by Russian embassy staff, not protected by diplomatic immunity, lost control on Wisłostrad street at a viaduct intersection with Krasińskiego avenue. It struck high‑energy barriers, fragments flew onto the opposite lane, damaging a Mazda and a Volvo. The Dacia then collided with a BMW heading toward the city centre and overturned onto a roof.

Casualties

One passenger was taken to a hospital; due to the injuries sustained, authorities classified the event as a collision involving the driver.

Emergency Response

Two fire brigades, an urban response unit, a medical rescue team, and police secured the scene, cut power to the vehicles and removed spilled fuel. Police investigated and managed traffic.

Traffic Impact

During rescue and police work the street was blocked; traffic was gradually restored after clearing wreckage. Similar incidents have frequently occurred at the same location.
