Ukrainian Drones Strike Largest Gazprom Plant, Halting Kazakhstan Gas Flow

Ukrainian drones hit Russia’s largest Gazprom gas plant in Orenburg, igniting a fire that stopped Kazakhstan gas flow, with no injuries reported.

Ukrainian drones hit key Gazprom facility

Ukrainian drones attacked a Gazprom gas‑processing plant in the Russian city of Orenburg. According to Governor Yevgeny Solntsev of Orenburg Oblast, no employees were injured, but the plant caught fire, which has since been extinguished. The attack halted gas supply from Kazakhstan.

The Orenburg facility is the largest in the world, with a processing capacity of 45 billion cubic meters. It processes condensate from both the oil field and natural gas in Orenburg, as well as condensate from the Karachaganak field in Kazakhstan.

First Orenburg attack after Samara refinery raid

This attack marks the first strike on an Orenburg plant; earlier Ukrainian forces had targeted a refinery in the Samara region. Governor Wjatyslaw Fedorshchev said that in response to the night drone raid, air defence was activated and the airport and mobile network were shut down.

Russia’s defence ministry reported that air defence shot down 45 drones during the night, and Ukraine confirmed responsibility for the raid.

Russia strikes Kharkiv region

Kyiv authorities reported on Sunday morning (October 19) that Russians attacked the Kharkiv region. One person was killed and 14 injured. Guided bombs and drones hit Kharkiv and surrounding villages, damaging buildings, an academy, and a car.

The Ukrainian army repelled over 200 attacks in the region in the last day, including 11 in the Kupiansk area. In the town of Lozova, Russians used a new 130‑km‑range guided bomb.
