Arson Attempt at Platforma Obywatelska Office; Suspect Previously Convicted

A 44‑year‑old suspect, already convicted of threatening PM Donald Tusk, was arrested Monday for an arson attempt at Platforma Obywatelska’s office on Warsaw’s Wiejska Street.

Suspect’s Prior Threats

Krzysztof B. posted a death threat against Prime Minister Donald Tusk on the social‑media platform X on 26 May 2025, alleging planned assassination. The threat was deemed criminal and led to a separate legal proceeding.

Charges and Prior Conviction

During the ongoing case, Krzysztof B. was fined 2 400 PLN (200 times 12 PLN) for the threat. Prosecutor Adrian Wysokiński of the Siedlce District Office confirmed the conviction and highlighted additional allegations pending against the suspect.

Pornographic Content Incident

The suspect also faced charges for sending pornographic material to the Siedlce District Attorney’s Office mailbox. He was charged under Article 202(1) of the Polish Criminal Code for publicly presenting pornographic content. Prosecutors clarified that the material was not child‑related but constituted adult pornography.

Scene of the Arson Attempt

On Friday at 2 p.m., an assailant attempted to set fire to the Platforma Obywatelska office by throwing a bottle of liquid toward the building and trying to ignite it. The attempt was halted before significant damage occurred.

Witness Accounts

Witness Witold Zembaczyński, a nearby restaurant patron, recounted seeing two men: one tossed a Molotov‑cocktail‑style bottle, while the other began igniting the liquid. A third man tried to intervene, and the arsonist threw a piece of glass at him before fleeing, shouting a slur at the political group.
