A toddler died in Kołobrzeg on 20 October after falling at home while under the care of a private caregiver, prosecutors say.
Investigation Findings
Prosecutor spokesperson Ewa Dziadczyk said that, according to one investigator, there is no indication that the child was harmed or that an external factor caused the impact or fall. The exact cause of death will be known after the autopsy, which has already been ordered.
Number of Children in Care
The couple reportedly had 22 children at the time of the incident, but the authorization they held covered only five children under their care.
Legal Status of the Care Facility
The care was provided in a single‑house setting, not a formal educational institution, but it falls under legal regulations. All necessary conditions were met and documents were submitted to the office. Caregivers in such sites must be trained, and annual inspections are conducted. The last inspection of this particular site took place last year and found no irregularities.
