A 70‑year‑old man from Piaseczno was arrested earlier this year for selling a gold ring stolen from a Warsaw home.
Arrest for Selling Stolen Ring
Piaseczno criminal police in Warsaw stopped a 70‑year‑old man who was offering a ring for sale at his stall. It would not have been unusual if the ring had been legitimate, but it had been stolen during a burglary in Józefosław at the start of the current year. He tried to convince officers that he had bought it from an unknown man who had recently died, but that did not absolve him of a criminal charge.
Daily Law‑Enforcement Routine Requires Patience
Daily police service involves more than hot‑action interventions or immediate arrests. Many reports that reach a police unit require time, meticulous analysis, and especially patience and consistency in action. Not every case can be finished overnight; some proceed for weeks or even months. Thanks to officers’ engagement and operational and investigative work, criminals are located and then held accountable. That was the case this time.
Theft of Gold Ring from Józefosław
At the start of 2025, Piaseczno County Police received a report from a resident of Józefosław whose house suffered a burglary. Money and a gold ring were stolen from the home safe. The case gained traction in early October when officers of the Piaseczno Criminal Department received information about one of the stolen items—a gold ring with diamonds worth 15,000 PLN—on display for sale at one of the stalls in Warsaw’s Wola district. Piaseczno criminal police seized the stolen item and also arrested the 70‑year‑old. The man tried to convince police he had bought the ring from an unknown man who had died some time ago.
Charges and Potential Sentence
The 70‑year‑old was taken to a police cell, and the next day he heard a criminal charge under Article 291 of the Penal Code, carrying a penalty of up to 5 years imprisonment.
Prosecutor Oversight
The proceeding is under the supervision of the Piaseczno District Prosecutor’s Office.
