Polish Foreign Minister’s deputy says Israel is blocking investigative support after a 36‑year‑old Polish volunteer was killed in a Gaza convoy attack.
New Information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Deputy Foreign Minister Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski said on Radio ZET that the investigation into the convoy attack remains open and ongoing, but currently no more facts can be released.
He added that Israel does not provide further support and is blocking cooperation, noting that the attacker “blocked not only us but also other countries.”
Attack on Humanitarian Convoy in Gaza
In April of last year, an Israeli strike hit a World Central Kitchen convoy in the Gaza Strip, killing seven volunteers, including 36‑year‑old Damian Sobol.
Among those killed were citizens of Australia, the United Kingdom, a dual US‑Canadian national, and a Palestinian. The convoy, marked with the WCK logo and armed with bullet‑proof vests bearing the same insignia, had received permission to pass through Israeli‑controlled areas.
Investigation Hampered by Israel and U.S. Cooperation
Polish lawmaker Piotr mentioned that lack of Israeli and American cooperation has stalled the investigation into Sobol’s death, echoing earlier comments by Onet that the inquiry in Poland is stalled for that reason.
