Duda Moves Into Advisory Role After Presidency; Experts Say Resting Is Wise

Former Polish president Andrzej Duda has announced a partnership with Zen.com as a supervisory‑advisory officer, prompting experts to weigh the benefits of a post‑presidential break and private sector opportunities.

New Advisory Role at Zen.com

Weeks ago, Duda outlined his plans on TV channel Zero with Krzysztof Stanowski. He has now confirmed that he will join Zen.com, where he will oversee supervisory and advisory matters.

Prof. Molęda‑Zdziech on Transition

The SGH professor noted that every former president can find a professional path if they have the right resources. She said Poland lacks regulations governing the “presidential capital” and that foundations or institutes are common routes, citing former presidents like Kwaśniewski, Komorowski, and Wałęsa.

Dr. Biskup on Post‑Presidential Paths

Dr. Biskup observed that former presidents usually appear in think tanks, comment on politics, or serve as ambassadors, though rarely in international organizations. He highlighted that Duda’s experience could be valuable on supervisory boards and in media sponsorships.

Need for a Political Break

Molęda‑Zdziech suggested that Duda is currently searching for a new role and that a pause from politics could refresh his image, especially after criticism of his presidency’s perceived lack of independence.

Opportunities in Private Sector

Biskup said that Duda’s position on a supervisory board offers “certain opportunities” to leverage his experience and public reputation. He also noted that media and podcasting present platforms for former presidents to comment on politics without being active participants.
