On Monday, 6 October, a Ford Focus taxi driver at Ryszard Kaczorowski Roundabout in Piastów collided with a Peugeot, refused a fine, and the case was forwarded to court.
Collision at Ryszard Kaczorowski Roundabout
Two vehicles were traveling along Warsaw Street from Pruszków when the Ford Focus, marked as a taxi, struck a Peugeot at the roundabout.
Faulty Right Turn from Left Lane
Police determined the Ford driver turned right from the left lane, which is prohibited on this tumbling roundabout; he entered the right lane for a right turn, cutting across the path of the correctly driving Peugeot.
Police Clarify Tumbling Roundabout Rules
Officers explained that the roundabout requires selecting a lane before entry, and the left lane only allows straight or left turns. The roundabout enforces this since 2017.
Refusal of Fine Leads to Court
Because accepting the fine would have resulted in license suspension due to accumulated points, the driver declined the penalty. Police thus filed a case with the court.
Driver’s Prior Incident Record
The same Ford taxi driver has been involved in multiple traffic incidents in Warsaw, often proposing cash settlements and discouraging police involvement. This time, however, the authorities decisively ruled him at fault, and the matter progressed to the judiciary rather than a settlement.
