Polish Tourist Missing in the Tatra Mountains, Rescue Teams Seek Help

A Polish tourist vanished near Bystra, the highest peak of the Western Tatras, on 20 October; rescue teams from both Polish and Slovak sides are searching.

Last Contact at 1 p.m.

The tourist last communicated with his family at about 13:00, sending a photo from the summit of Bystra.

Joint Search Across the Polish‑Slovak Border

Rescue teams from TOPR and the Slovak Mountain Rescue Service have been operating since the night of 20 October, but no contact has been made since.

Rescue Resources Including Dogs, Drones, and Helicopter

At the scene are search dogs, drones, and a helicopter; however, the helicopter’s operation was limited by weather conditions, as stated by TOPR’s on‑call firefighter Grzegorz Kubicki on RMF FM.

Public Appeal for Information

Rescue workers urge anyone who was in the Bystra area on 20 October to call TOPR at 18206 34 44 or the Slovak Mountain Rescue Service at 18300, as any information could help locate the missing tourist.
