Trump Urges Israel to Join Military Push
Trump wrote on social media that “our great allies in the Middle East and neighboring regions will gladly step into Gaza with heavy forces to ‘defeat Hamas’ if it continues violating our agreement.” He added that this exercise was not yet necessary, but urged cooperation.
Tense Ceasefire After October 10 Talks
On October 10, Hamas and Israel agreed to a pause in hostilities, but the weeks since have seen each side accuse the other of breaking the truce. Israeli officials claim Hamas has struck army positions outside the yellow buffer zone, while Hamas denies the allegations.
Allegations of Breaches by Both Sides
Palestinians say Israel has repeatedly violated the ceasefire since the pact was signed. The health ministry, controlled by Hamas, reported that by October 19, Israeli fire had killed 38 Palestinians and wounded over 140 in recent attacks.
Trump Affirms Ceasefire Still in Effect
During a Monday interview, Trump said the ceasefire remains in force and blamed a group of rebels for the recent Israeli attack. He emphasized that relations with Hamas will remain “very peaceful,” and that the latest incident would be handled firmly, yet fairly.
