Trial Opens in Piotrkowo Trybunalskie

In a second hearing, the court formally started the case after a mediation ruling in September. The defense requested a pause, but the judge rejected it, formally opening the procedure. Meantime, families have not met the accused face‑to‑face.

Sebastian M.’s Statement

During the session, the defendant declined to admit the charges and refused to answer questions or propose a settlement. He delivered a short apology, saying: “I’m very sorry, the victims deserve my sincere condolences. There are no words that can express the loss of loved ones.” His voice broke, tears welled, and his sister recorded the speech on her phone.

Fatal A1 Motorway Crash

The accident occurred in September 2023 near Piotrkowo Trybunalskie, killing a wife, husband, and their five‑year‑old son. Investigators found that the suspect drove over 250 km/h, and had removed the factory speed limiter from a BMW Alpina B7i, enabling speeds up to 300 km/h. He also installed an anti‑radar device. After the crash, he fled to Germany, then the UAE, before being extradited to Poland later this year.
