Mokotów burglaries: suspect enters through broken windows

In the early hours of October 22, a burglar broke into two shops and attempted a third at the Bartycka 175 shopping complex in Mokotów, using pre‑opened windows to gain entry and stealing cash and tools.

The night of 21‑22 October, around 4:00 a.m., the suspect opened windows in advance and entered two pavilions at the Bartycka 175 complex in Mokotów. The third attempt was stopped by installed grilles.

Suspect Tactics

Police and victims report that the man acted quickly, using the broken windows as a pathway into the pavilions. Two burglaries were successful; the third was foiled by the security grilles.

Witness Testimony

Victims say that a day earlier, a figure with a strong Eastern European accent had visited the premises, asking simple questions about merchandise. One witness described the individual as conducting “reconnaissance” and noted the accent was unmistakable. Statements mentioned “Ukrainian, Russian, not sure, but the accent was clear.”

Police Statement

Press officer of the Warsaw II district police commander, Asp. Szt. Marta Haberska, confirmed the two burglaries and the thefts. Officers are securing evidence on site and conducting investigations to identify the perpetrator.

Damage and Investigation

Security footage was reviewed and preserved, and evidence collected. Victims reported cash from registers and power tools from displays and storage were stolen. Losses will be calculated after a full inventory by store owners.
