Russian forces launched drone and missile attacks on Kyiv late Tuesday into Wednesday, igniting residential buildings and vehicles, killing at least six and wounding 17.
Russian drone attack on Kyiv
The strike began around midnight, Tuesday, and continued into Wednesday. Kyiv’s metropolitan defense chief Timur Tkaczenko reported a fire on the eighth and ninth floors of a skyscraper near the Dnieper River, noting that the city suffered at the hands of Russian terrorists. Buildings, cars, windows and roofs were devastated.
Casualties in the capital
Chief Tkaczenko said the attacks were ongoing after 6 a.m. Deputy Mayor Ivan Kliczko announced two deaths and 13 injuries, including four children.
Nationwide strikes and affected regions
Other oblasts hit include Kyiv, Odesa, Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, Poltava, Vinnytsia, Zaporizhzhia, Cherkasy and Sumy. Fires erupted in Zaporizhzhia and residential homes in Kyiv. Thus far, 17 people have been wounded and six killed, two of whom were children.
Ukraine’s air defense response
President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine’s air defense, mobile fire groups and drone‑intercept crews worked through the night. He urged the world not to remain silent and called for a united response to Russia’s egregious attacks, emphasizing that each aid to Ukraine protects human life.
Targeted Russian chemical plant in Briansk
Earlier, the Ukrainian General Staff announced a massive missile and air attack on a chemical plant in Briansk, using Storm Shadow missiles that penetrated Russian air defense. The plant produces ballistic shells, explosives, and rocket‑fuel components used by the enemy against Ukrainian territory.
