Warsaw City Council Invests in Hospitals and Tick‑Borne Encephalitis Prevention – New Funding for 2025‑2027

The Warsaw City Council allocated PLN 15 million to refurbish city hospitals and clinics, while expanding its free tick‑borne encephalitis vaccination programme for residents aged 20‑59 until 2027.

Funding for Hospital Repairs

The council granted PLN 15 million to renovate municipal health facilities, including the neurosurgery department at Hospital Bielański and 22 district clinics.

Upgrading Municipal Clinics

Ten million zlotys will be spent on upgrading more than 20 city clinics, improving doctor’s offices, waiting areas and access infrastructure along streets such as Malczewskiego, Soczi, and Jadźwingów.

Expanded Tick‑Borne Encephalitis Programme

The budget for free tick‑borne encephalitis (TBE) vaccinations has nearly doubled, allocating PLN 7.5 million for a three‑dose schedule for residents aged 20‑59 through 2027.

Budget Allocation Details

Hospital Bielański receives an additional PLN 3 million for its neurosurgical wing. The Saint Family Specialist Hospital in Madaliński will get almost PLN 2 million for the obstetrics and delivery block. PLN 1 million of the city budget will support baseline primary care, paediatric, surgical and gynaecological services at various clinics.

Tick‑Borne Encephalitis Risk and Prevention

Mild winters keep ticks active all year, heightening the risk of TBE, a severe central nervous system infection with no cure and often requiring long rehabilitation. The expanded programme ensures full coverage of three vaccine doses, making free immunisation accessible to a larger portion of Warsaw’s population.
