Kremlin official Dmitry Medvedev blasted former U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent summit cancellation and sanctions rollout, labeling the moves an act of war against Russia.
Medvedev Criticizes Trump
Dmitry Medvedev, Russia’s deputy foreign minister, criticized Trump’s decision to cancel the summit with Vladimir Putin in Budapest and the imposition of new sanctions against Russia.
Medvedev claimed the United States is Russia’s enemy and its spokesperson has entered full war mode against Moscow.
Act of War Statement
Medvedev called the U.S. decisions an act of war against Russia, accusing Trump of aligning with Europe in a campaign that targets Russian interests.
He warned that the new pressure could lead to aggressive measures against Russian assets and infrastructure.
U.S. Treasury Imposes New Sanctions
On Tuesday, October 22, the U.S. Treasury announced sanctions targeting Rosneft, Lukoil, and dozens of related subsidiaries to restrict Russia’s war machine financing.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated the aim was to curb the Kremlin’s war funding and weaken Putin’s regime revenue, urging an immediate ceasefire.
EU Joins Sanction Pack
Two days later, the European Union adopted its 19th sanctions package against Russia, striking the country’s energy, financial, and trade sectors.
