Six‑month‑old boy in northern Poland died shortly after receiving an expired vaccine; prosecutors say the autopsy could not determine the cause of death.
Autopsy Unable to Determine Cause
The coroner’s examination of the six‑month‑old boy’s body revealed no clear cause of death. Results will be finalized in a few months.
Death Shortly After Vaccination
The child was inoculated with two doses of a vaccine covering diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B, polio, and rotavirus. Soon after the second dose, he was hospitalized for an adverse reaction and died quickly.
Police Investigating
The Kuyavia‑Pomerania prosecutor’s office secured clinic records and is investigating the case. The clinic director denied speculation that an adverse vaccine reaction caused the death.
Sanepid Investigates
Sanitary authorities found one of the administered vaccines was expired, secured it for testing, and emphasized that expired vaccines must never be used. A spokesperson stated that checking expiry dates is the practitioner’s duty.
