Warsaw’s nighttime security is mapped with 44 police crews and 38 city guard patrols after sunset, revealing district concentrations and staffing concerns.
Night Shift Patrol Totals
According to data supplied by the Capital Police Command for the third shift, which runs from 18:00–6:00 or 20:00–8:00, a total of 44 police crews are on duty after dark in Warsaw, while the City Guard deploys 38 patrols from 16:00 onward in field units.
Distribution Across Districts
The majority of crews operate on the right side of the Vistula River, covering KRP VI (Praga‑North, Targówek, Białołęka) and KRP VII (Praga‑South, Rembertów, Wawer, Wesoła). On the left side fewer crews are stationed, reflecting the current allocation described to the municipal council.
Specialized Units Supporting Patrols
In addition to standard crews, the city also has 30 Prevention Division officers, 10 intelligence‑patrol teams, and 9 traffic radio vehicles, usually comprised of two‑person teams and assigned by the duty officer according to operational needs.
Staffing Concerns and Declining Numbers
Councillor Melania Łuczak raises the possibility that the actual number of patrols could be lower because of manpower shortages and overtime at the police command. She notes that, over the past decade, night patrols may have dropped, a trend residents feel through increased noise and dangerous behaviours around 24‑hour stores, and the city will seek further details and evaluate potential night‑security programmes.
