Defence Minister Promises Cleanup After Predecessors
During a visit to the 18th Mechanized Division headquarters, Minister Władysław Kosiniak‑Kamysz said the matter dates back over two years and does not involve exposure of secret material. He pledged to “clean up” after past administrations and to bring consequences for those who violated the law. The Military Counter‑intelligence Service and Military Police have been ordered to retrain unit personnel on compliance with the Act on the Protection of Confidential Information. Each individual responsible for procedural lapses will face sanctions.
Military Police Investigating Document Discovery
The Białystok Military Police Department is conducting the case and will verify whether the released material could threaten military or private interests. The discarded bags contained data on several soldiers and information about military infrastructure. The documents, related to the units in Orzysz and Węgorzewo, were found on the private land of a local entrepreneur who owned the property.
Documents Found by Renovation Firm in Suwałki
According to Onet, a renovation company that carried out work for the units in Orzysz and Węgorzewo supposedly disposed of the documents on a private plot. Investigations by prosecutorial offices in Suwałki and Białystok have not resulted in any charges.
