European MP Krzysztof Brejza filed a criminal complaint against former justice minister Michał Woś on October 23 after the former minister posted remarks on Pegasus software, prompting legal action.
Woś’s Social Media Post
On October 23, former minister Michał Woś posted on social media addressing Justice Minister Marek Wałdek, claiming a 25 million PLN transfer had been made from the Justice Fund to purchase Pegasus spy software and joked that he had “left 12 groszy for Żurko.”
Minister’s Rebuttal
Minister Wałdek responded, reiterating that Woś had exceeded his authority in the 25 million PLN transfer, noting Woś failed to appear for supervision and ignored correspondence, leading the prosecutor to apply a financial guarantee and property precaution as a preventive safeguard against potential flight.
Brejza’s Complaint
European MP Krzysztof Brejza said, “Do you see this? Joy like among ordinary thieves… Woś achieved ‘success’ by clearing the account before prosecution arrived,” calling the method “gangster or bandit.” He submitted a criminal complaint to the prosecutor on the basis of this post.
Legal Basis Cited
Brejza invoked Article 300 of the Polish Penal Code, stating that obstructing or preventing a creditor’s satisfaction, including preventing the execution of a court judgment, is punishable by three to five years’ imprisonment.
Background on Woś’s Alleged Overreach
Woś is suspected of exceeding authority by transferring 25 million PLN from the Justice Fund for Pegasus software purchase, a move that triggered the prosecutor’s action and the current complaint.
