Brown Supporters Plan Overseas Party Structure in Warsaw Meeting

A Wednesday evening gathering of members and sympathisers of Poland’s Konfederacja KoronaPolska met with party leader Grzegorz Braun to discuss organising overseas structures, according to insider sources.

Meeting Overview

A meeting was held in Warsaw on Wednesday evening, where core members of Konfederacja KoronaPolska convened with party leader Grzegorz Braun. The session aimed to outline the organisation of an overseas party structure.

Foreign Supporters in Attendance

About 60 Polish diaspora activists and sympathisers were present. Among them were supporters from the Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium, and Canada, illustrating the party’s international reach.

Financial Rules Discussed

Party councillors explained that foreign accounts cannot be used to contribute membership fees, citing Article 25 of the Polish Political Parties Act. Contributions must come from Polish citizens with a Polish residence nationwide.

Deputy Treasurer’s Interpretation

Deputy treasurer Kamila Jezierska advised that if a supporter lacks a Polish account, donations should go to the affiliated foundation Pobudka. This approach was presented as a way to comply with legal restrictions while enabling foreign support.

Dr Anna Frydrych‑Depka of the Nicolaus Copernicus University noted that while the law forbids political parties from receiving funds from foreign entities, a foundation could obscure genuine political activity. Lawyer Krzysztof Izdebski questioned whether the law remains relevant post‑EU accession and suggested possible reforms.

Fritz Refutes Looser Interpretation

Roman Fritz, a party spokesman, denied any directive to accept foreign accounts, describing the discussion as a casual conversation. He stressed that contributions may only come from Polish accounts, and foreign payments should go to Pobudka where appropriate.

What Is Pobudka?

The foundation, established in 2015 by Grzegorz Braun and Włodzimierz Skalik, focuses on education in church, school, shooting range, and minting—aligned with Braun’s 2015 campaign slogan. It is not a public benefit organisation and does not receive the 1.5 % tax‑deduction allocations granted to pensioner‑friendly foundations.

Founders’ Roles

Roman Fritz serves as chair of Pobudka’s Board, while Braun and Skalik sit on its Governing Board. The foundation is linked to other Braun‑affiliated entities such as the Osuchowa Foundation, which disseminates conservative literature and films.
