A training drone manufactured by Military Aviation Works No. 2 crashed in Inowrocław, Poland, on Thursday evening, and officials say a loss of communication caused the fall.
Incident Details
At about 9 p.m. on Thursday, a training unmanned aerial vehicle from Military Aviation Works No. 2 fell at the border of the City of Inowrocław and its municipality in the airfield of the Kujawy Aeroclub. The event caused no threat to residents of Inowrocław County.
Cause Identified as Loss of Communication
Reports from RMF FM and the Military Police in Bydgoszcz confirm that a loss of link between the drone and its operator caused the crash. Major Dominik Maik stated that the incident was due to the device’s failure to maintain communication.
Operator’s Insurance and Compensation Decisions
Poczta Polska will decide whether to continue compensation proceedings under the Civil Code, as the operator had insurance covering loss of communication events that occurred during the flight.
Manufacturer’s and Military Group Statements
Both the Military Aviation Works No. 2 and the Polish Armaments Group noted that no personnel were harmed and that representatives of WZL2 are investigating the incident. No casualties were reported.
