Polish opposition MP Roman Giertych has filed a lawsuit against Judge Dariusz Drajewicz, accusing him of authorizing an illegal Pegasus wiretap that enabled the Central Anti‑Corruption Bureau to monitor the MP.
Approval for Wiretap Issued After Service Officials’ Dismissal
The president of the Iustitia association, Bartłomiej Przymusiński, revealed that the court initially refused to approve a surveillance request on Roman Giertych, but after the services filed an appeal, Judge Drajewicz granted the approval. The judge, appointed by Zbigniew Ziobro, had previously faced Supreme Court judgments declaring his rulings void in 2021 due to improper delegation.
Giertych Announces Lawsuit Against Drajewicz
Giertych said he would sue Drajewicz for the illegal judgment that permitted the CBA to use Pegasus against him. He demanded accountability for what he described as “the impunity of PiS nominees” and highlighted that recordings of his clients were captured, copied, and partly published following the judge’s decision.
Request to the Prosecutor General for Investigation
The MP has approached Prosecutor General Waldemar Żurek, asking for a probe into Judge Drajewicz’s overreach. Giertych argued that the judge’s actions benefited political opponents who could access opposition information. He also cited media revelations that the victim’s status in the investigation was held by the prime minister’s daughter, Katarzyna Tusk‑Cudna.
