On Saturday 25 October, the Civic Platform, Modern and Polish Initiative merged into the new Civic Coalition, a joint convention broadcast live by TV Republika.
Civic Coalition Formation
On 25 October, the Civic Platform, Modern and Polish Initiative joined forces at a national congress, announcing a single political organization that will be named the Civic Coalition. Donald Tusk declared that the new party already carries the momentum gained from recent election victories and will win the next ones as well.
Leadership Statements
Tusk emphasized that the coalition has already won elections and will continue to do so, adding that the party needs no further innovation to succeed.
Media Coverage and Criticism
Television channel TV Republika aired the convention with distinctive striped overlays on the screen. Commentator Jacek Nizinkiewicz from Rzeczpospolita remarked that “the striped TV Republika outpaced the striped TVP of Jacek Kurski” and described the programme as “propaganda and garbage at a hard level.” The broadcast also included on‑screen slogans such as “Tusk the Rejecian wants Poles to forget his contacts with Putin” and “Tusk lies about his contacts with Putin.”
Statutory Changes and Future Leadership
The Civic Platform decided to amend its statute to allow members of Modern and Polish Initiative to join. New leadership will be elected no later than mid‑January 2026. Modern announced its dissolution during a national meeting on Friday, while Polish Initiative will hold its congress on 15 November to decide on its end.
