An 18‑year‑old woman driving her mother’s Opel lost control and fell from a viaduct onto railway tracks near 1 Mai Street in Jelenia Góra at about 5:55 a.m.
Vehicle Falls onto Tracks
At approximately 5:55 a.m. on 1 Mai Street, an 18‑year‑old woman driving an Opel fell from the viaduct onto the rail tracks. Police officers confirmed she was unharmed and that no train was passing under the viaduct at the time. No other persons were injured, as she was driving alone.
Police Explain Causes
The incident was attributed to the driver’s failure to adjust her speed to the prevailing road conditions. By not matching speed to the wet, slippery surface, she lost control of the vehicle, leading to the fall.
Safety Warning for Autumn Driving
Police highlighted that autumn brings rain, fog and wet surfaces that extend braking distances and reduce traction. Drivers are urged to be particularly careful during morning hours when darkness, fatigue and challenging conditions can impair reaction time.
Police Safety Message
“Slow down! Keep a safe distance! Adjust your speed to weather and visibility conditions! Remember that a few minutes difference in travel time can save health or life—ours and others,” the Jelenia Góra City Police Command wrote.
