Belarus Prepares Military Expansion and Young Indoctrination Ahead of 2027 War with NATO

A joint report by Belarusian NGOs BELPOL and NAU alleges that the Lukashenko regime is arming its army, expanding reserves, and indoctrinating children to prepare for a conflict with NATO in 2027.

Belarus Arms Itself and Systemically Militarizes Children

The report describes the scale of military education and how President Aleksandr Lukashenko’s regime is shaping a new generation to unquestioningly serve the state. It states that from 2022 to 2025 Belarus has been intensifying its military buildup and preparing for war. The number of contract soldiers is increasing, the army is set to grow to 80,000 personnel, and reserves include hundreds of thousands of people.

State spending on defence has risen, with investments in drones, electronic warfare systems, and ammunition production. Belarusian companies support the Russian defence complex, and Russian contingents are stationed on Belarusian territory while fortifications are being constructed along the borders. The report also highlights a systematic militarization of children, who from a very early age are indoctrinated and trained in loyalty to the regime.

Belarus Claims It Prepares to Join War Against NATO

Both BELPOL and the National Crisis Management Board (NAU) warn that Belarus is gearing up to participate in a war against NATO and Baltic countries. Their statements suggest an emerging “war cult,” according to Matwiej Kuprejczyk, BELPOL’s chief investigator.

NAU chairman Paweł Łatuszka added that the regime is not only militarizing children but also society at large. He told Polish Radio that the government is embedding the belief that a war may occur soon, changing laws, national security concepts, war doctrines, and constitution provisions to facilitate participation in conflict.

Russia Monitors Poland’s Defensive Response

Kuprejczyk noted that Russia observes and analyzes how Poland and its institutions inform the public and respond to crises. He said Russian intelligence watches rapid deployment of special services and firefighting units, installation of electronic warfare systems, air defence systems, and jets used for interception.

Similar observations are being made for Baltic states, according to former GROM commander Gen. Roman Polko, who highlighted that Russians are intensifying their operations and gathering data to prepare for possible covert or overt disruption missions. He warned that Russia, as an aggressive country, seeks to undermine trust in Polish leadership and destabilise the nation.
