On Sunday, October 26, Donald Tusk told reporters that the Civic Coalition will soon unveil a programme that aims to usher in a “golden decade” for Poland.
Gold Decade for Poland, Tusk Says
On Sunday, 26 October, Donald Tusk told Reuters that the Civic Coalition’s forthcoming programme would “be presented in a very responsible manner” and herald a “golden decade” for the country.
He added that he still has work left to do but was convinced the coalition’s plan, which his side will call “the programme of the golden decade of Poland”, will indeed bring “a golden decade” to the nation.
Ambitions for Coalition Leadership
During a press conference, Tusk revealed that the upcoming elections in the year will include the selection of a party chairman and other senior leaders.
He stated: “I will run and will seek the position. I even have some chances. One never knows, but they say I have a chance.”
Civic Coalition Formed from Three Parties
At the Platforma Obywatelska convention on 25 October, the Civic Coalition was officially announced, uniting the Civic Platform, Modern, and Polish Initiative parties.
Why the Coalition Matters
Tusk explained that the coalition is not merely about power or forthcoming elections, but about fundamental questions of Poland’s sovereignty and the preservation of freedoms won in 1989.
