At around 5 p.m. on Oct. 25, a 44‑year‑old man stabbed his 36‑year‑old estranged wife with a knife while she was driving a taxi at Metziger Square, the main taxi‑stop in Leszno. The attacker was the victim’s husband, who had been living separately from her for some time.
Escape and Pursuit
When the taxi stopped at a red light, the woman fled the vehicle and called for help. The attacker immediately fled toward the Święciechowa municipality, driving with the wounded wife. Police later located him in the village of Gołanice, where he was hiding by a local lake.
Law‑Enforcement Action
Officers monitoring the crash replay traced the man’s path on the surveillance video, dispatched patrols along his route and kept the police network informed of his movements. He was ultimately arrested under the presence of about 0.5 % alcohol in his bloodstream.
Arrest and Charges
The 44‑year‑old was taken to custody and will soon face criminal charges. His wife was transported to a hospital for surgery, and authorities say her life is no longer in danger.
