During a PiS convention in Katowice on Friday and Saturday, journalist Dorota Kania made a slip‑up that drew sharp criticism from PO and a Polish EU parliamentarian.
Journalist Slip at PiS Convention
During the two‑day program convention of Law and Justice in Katowice, Dorota Kania, a well‑known journalist, made a misstatement during a panel discussion.
The Misstatement
Initially, Kania claimed that Poland should establish a National Public Media Holding to bring together TVP, Polskie Radio and PiS’ media outlets. After correcting herself, she said she actually meant the Polish Press Agency.
European Parliamentarian’s Reaction
Krzysztof Brejza, a KO member of the European Parliament, condemned the remark, calling it a “fantasy of PiS propagandists.” He posted his criticism on the platform X.
Scope of the PiS Convention
The convention, which began with Jarosław Kaczyński’s opening address, aimed to prepare the party’s new platform. It featured more than 120 panels with 600 guests and focused on Poland’s political future.
Platforma Obywatelska’s United Convention
On Saturday, Platforma Obywatelska, Modern, and Polska Initiative announced the formation of the Coalition Civic Group. Donald Tusk declared that they had already won elections as the coalition and will continue to do so.
