The National Broadcasting Council has officially published new, higher monthly subscription fees for radio and television set owners, effective January 1, 2027, alongside updated discount structures for advance payments.
New Subscription Rates for 2027
The National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) has published a regulation in the Journal of Laws outlining the new rates for radio and television license fees starting January 1, 2027. The increase applies to both radio and television set owners.
According to the regulation dated May 13, 2026, the fees will increase by 1.30 PLN per month for radio and 4 PLN per month for television receivers compared to 2026 rates. Payments for the 2027 period can be made as early as 2026 at the new rates.
Discounts for Advance Payments
The KRRiT has maintained a system of discounts for those who pay their license fees in advance for longer periods. The structure remains consistent for both radio and television sets, offering a 3 percent discount for two months, 4 percent for three months, 5 percent for six months, and 10 percent for a full year.
Legal Obligation and Exemptions
The license fee remains mandatory for all individuals with registered radio or television receivers, with collection handled by Poczta Polska for public media funding. Exemptions continue to apply to seniors over 75 years of age and specific groups of retirees or disabled persons who meet statutory requirements.
Future Legislative Uncertainties
The Ministry of Culture has prepared a draft bill, UC130, which proposes the abolition of the current license fee system in favor of direct state budget funding for public media. While the government aims for this change to take effect on January 1, 2027, the current system remains legally binding until new legislation is passed.
