22-Year-Old Driver Crashes Delivery Van into Ditch Due to Fatigue

A 22-year-old man crashed his Fiat delivery van into a roadside ditch on national road 60 in Legarda after falling asleep at the wheel today.

Around 8:00 AM today, a 22-year-old resident of Iława county lost control of his Fiat delivery van on national road 60 in the village of Legarda. The vehicle left the roadway and entered a roadside ditch. A 22-year-old female passenger was in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Driver Fatigue Blamed

Preliminary police investigations determined that driver fatigue was the cause of the accident. The driver was found to be sober but was nonetheless penalized for creating a hazardous situation on the road.

Legal Consequences

The 22-year-old driver received a 2,000 złoty fine and 10 penalty points on his license for endangering traffic safety. Despite the accident, neither the driver nor his passenger sustained serious injuries.
