A 29‑year‑old man driving a BMW crashed into a Kia while drifting on Udawka Street in Bydgoszcz at 8:12 a.m. on Saturday, fled the scene, and died almost two hours later.

Police determined that the 29‑year‑old driver of a BMW was drifting when his vehicle struck a Kia on Udawka Street in Bydgoszcz.
Driver flees and arrives by taxi
The BMW, which also carried a passenger, was abandoned and both occupants fled the scene. Two hours later, they were found by taxi at the Dr. Emil Warmiński Clinical Hospital on Szpitalna Street, where the driver was taken for treatment.
Kia driver hospitalized, no injuries
The driver of the Kia was transported to the same hospital for further examination but was reported to have no post‑accident injuries.
Witness statement from police officer
Lidia Kowalska, spokesperson for the Bydgoszcz City Police Command, described the incident, noting the BMW’s passenger also fled with the driver. She confirmed that the 29‑year‑old died despite medical assistance.
Police investigating
Authorities are currently examining the circumstances surrounding the collision and the subsequent escape of the driver.
