A 29-year-old man has been arrested in Poznań, Poland, and charged with severely injuring his infant son and abusing his wife and other children.
Infant Hospitalized with Severe Injuries
A baby boy was admitted to Karol Jonscher Hospital in Poznań with numerous head and leg injuries, indicating possible abuse, according to police sub-commissioner Łukasz Paterski on Tuesday, April 16th.
Parents Detained, Ukrainian Nationals
Both parents, Ukrainian citizens who arrived in Poland in March 2024, have been detained. The father faces up to 20 years in prison.
Evidence gathered led to charges of causing serious bodily harm and cruel treatment of the child. The mother was questioned as a witness.
Abuse Allegations Extend to Wife and Other Children
The 29-year-old also faces charges of abusing his wife and four other daughters, aged three to six. The girls were examined by a doctor but showed no visible injuries.
Suspect Confesses, Ordered Held for Three Months
Prosecutor Łukasz Wawrzyniak stated the suspect confessed to the charges. The court ordered a three-month detention. He could face 3 to 20 years imprisonment.
