A 35‑year‑old man was apprehended last night in a Warsaw basement he had barricaded, after police seized burglary evidence and drugs.
Operation Targets Burglary Base
The police, acting on information gathered over time, raided a basement in one of the apartment blocks in Grochów.
Investigators believed the suspect had been hiding there, spending most of his time planning and committing burglary and break‑in crimes against cars, garages, houses, and a warehouse.
Man Barricades Himself in Basement
When officers entered the basement, the man panicked and tried to block their entry, attempting to barricade himself inside.
Police overcame the obstacles quickly and detained the 35‑year‑old.
Police Seize Drugs and Theft Evidence
Searches uncovered marijuana, mefedron, and amphetamines both in the basement and in a storage space in the suspect’s apartment.
They also found a power‑angle grinder, a chainsaw, documents, and bank cards—items linked to the alleged burglaries.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
The suspect now faces ten charges, including possession of drugs, concealment of documents, and burglary of vehicles, garages, warehouses, and homes.
The Warsaw‑Praga Południe District Prosecutor’s Office has placed a police monitoring order on him, and he could be sentenced to up to ten years in prison.
