On November 11, more than 20,000 runners in white‑red colours will start the 35th Poland Independence Day Run in Warsaw at 11:11 a.m.
Schedule and Start Lines
The main 10‑km run begins on Tuesday, November 11, at 11:11 a.m., following the tradition of singing the national anthem and raising a live Polish flag at the start line on Jana Pawła II Avenue, at the height of Miła Street. Participants are divided into waves: 11:11 (Zone 1,
Kids’ Mile and Nordic Walking
An 1,918‑meter Mile of Independence will take place at 10:00 a.m. for children and youth aged 10–14. After the runners finish, a ~5‑km Nordic walking wave will run.
Route of the 35th Run
Runners start at the intersection of Jana Pawła II Avenue and Stawki Street, head along Jana Pawła II Avenue, then Chałubińskiego Street and Niepodległości Avenue. The route turns at Stefan Batorego Street, loops back via the UN roundabout on Prostą Street, stops at Żelazna Street, and returns through the UN roundabout and Jana Pawła II Avenue to the finish.
Participants and Limits
The run is capped at 20,000 for the main race, 600 for Nordic walking, and 500 for the Mile of Independence. Registration for the on‑site races closes when slots are filled. A few hundred participants will join virtually.
Road Closures and Traffic Restrictions
Jana Pawła II Avenue will be closed from the Rondo Zgrupowania AK “Radosław” to Anielewicza between 3:00 and 20:00, with trams suspended on this stretch. Between 9:00 and 15:00 the avenue will close from Anielewicza to Solidarności Avenue, and from 10:00 to 15:00 from Solidarności to Chałubińskiego Street. Additional closures affect Chałubińskiego to Niepodległości, Niepodległości from Koszykowa to Batorego, and Prostą from the UN roundabout to Żelazna. The Rondo Zgrupowania AK “Radosław” will be impassable from 9:00 to 16:00, with detours via Okopowa, Towarowa, Raszyńska, and Żwirki i Wigury streets. Parking bans apply along the entire race route.
Public Transport Changes and Free Rides for Participants
Bus and tram lines crossing the route will be redirected, with possible route cuts and temporary suspensions. Lines 22, 126, and 160 will not operate; lines 178, 503, and 521 will have altered services. Participants can enjoy free rides in the 1st fare zone on November 11, using their start number (incl. ticket‑stub Metro passes).
Runner Facilities
Drop‑off points and changing rooms are available at Westfield Arkadia (levels 0 and –1); parking will be accessible to participants. Organizers advise using subway M1 to Dworzec Gdański station and walking to the start for warm‑up. The race office will be closed on race day, except from 8:00 to 10:00 for out‑of‑city participants.
