37‑Year‑Old Temporarily Arrested for Attempted Rape

A 37‑year‑old man in Warsaw’s Białołęka district was temporarily detained on Tuesday for attempting to rape a woman at a bus stop on Płochocińska Street.

Court Orders Temporary Detention

A court sentenced the 37‑year‑old man to three months in temporary detention after finding him guilty of attempted rape. He faces up to 15 years of imprisonment. The case is under investigation by the Warsaw‑Praga North Prosecutor’s Office.

Incident at Płochocińska Bus Stop

On 7 November at about 19:30, a woman waiting for a bus was attacked from behind by an unknown male at the Płochocińska bus stop. The attacker dragged her into the bus stop area, but she screamed and managed to record him on her mobile phone before he fled.

Police and Emergency Response

Police, paramedics, a crime‑scene unit, forensic technicians, and a canine officer arrived promptly. The woman sustained no serious injuries and did not require hospitalization.

Arrest in Modlińska and Światowida

Within minutes after 21:00, police patrolling the Modlińska and Światowida streets apprehended the suspect. Breath‑alcohol testing revealed he was under the influence of alcohol.

Criminal Record and Previous Offences

Investigators reviewed his criminal file and found six prior arrests for various offences, multiple warrants of arrest, and no fixed residence. He had previously served long sentences in prison and investigative custody.

Prosecutor’s Review and Charges

The compiled evidence was forwarded to the Warsaw‑Praga North Prosecutor’s Office, where the suspect was questioned and charged with attempted rape, carrying a possible 15‑year sentence.

Court’s Decision on Temporary Detention

Following the prosecutor’s recommendation, the court granted the temporary detention order for the 37‑year‑old man.
