A 39‑year‑old man died during a police intervention in his Konin home on Friday, with the case now being investigated by prosecutors.
Sudden aggression from 39‑year‑old
A 39‑year‑old man was called to the police after his mother reported aggressive behavior. Officer Sylwia Król said that upon arrival he struck officers with a stick and later struck one of them with a metal pipe.
Death of the 39‑year‑old
After the police subdued and restrained him, medical rescuers arrived and the man lost consciousness. Resuscitation was attempted but the man died.
Police actions during intervention
The entire incident was captured on body‑camera footage. Officer Król stated that, aside from physical force, pepper spray and handcuffs were used, and no other tactics were deployed.
Case under investigation
The incident is being investigated by the Control Department of the Voivodeship Police Headquarters, the Main Police Headquarters, and the District Prosecutor’s Office in Konin.
