39-Year-Old Man Arrested in Child Sex Abuse Case

A 39-year-old man was remanded in custody for three months in Ostrołęka on charges of sexual offenses against minors.

The District Court in Ostrołęka has applied a three-month preventive detention measure against Tomasz M. The Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Ostrołęka announced on January 14, 2026, that the District Prosecutor’s Office is conducting an investigation against him in connection with suspected sexual crimes against minors under 15 years old and presenting pornographic content to minors.

Charges Filed

Tomasz M. has been charged with raping minors under 15, using dependency relationships to commit other sexual acts against them, and presenting pornographic content to minors. According to spokesperson Elżbieta Edyta Łukasiewicz of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Ostrołęka, the acts are qualified under Articles 197 §4, 200 §1, 200 §3, and 199 §2 of the Penal Code.

Alleged Crimes Timeline

The prosecutor’s office indicated that the suspect committed the crimes “in Ostrołęka and Warsaw between July 2022 and August 2025.” During this period, the suspect “deceptively raped two minors and repeatedly, using dependency relationships, led the victims to submit to and perform other sexual acts.” It was also noted that “in the summer of 2022 in Warsaw, he presented pornographic content to children.”

Defendant’s Position

During questioning at the District Prosecutor’s Office in Ostrołęka, Tomasz M. did not admit to the charges presented and provided explanations. The District Court in Ostrołęka applied the preventive measure of three-month detention against Tomasz M.

Potential Penalties

The prosecutor’s office stated that for the charged acts, including “the crime of raping minors,” the penalty is “imprisonment from 5 to 30 years or life imprisonment.”

The spokesperson for the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Ostrołęka emphasized that due to the best interests of the victims, no further information about the case will be disclosed. “Regarding the details of the events that Tomasz M. committed against minors, due to the best interests of the minor victims and their nature, we cannot inform the public or media representatives.”
