A five-year-old girl fell from a fourth-floor balcony in Olszyna on Saturday, February 21, while under the care of her intoxicated father.
Drunk Father Cared for Child
The opiekun was tested for alcohol and had approximately 1.7 promila. He was taken into custody and brought to the Luban police station. Further actions will be taken after he sobers up, likely the next day.
Police Investigation Underway
The girl was conscious and transported to a hospital. Police officers and forensic technicians are still at the scene. The Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Luban is overseeing proceedings under Article 160, Paragraph 2 of the Penal Code, which covers endangerment by a caregiver.
Similar Incident in Międzyrzecz
In late September, a similar incident occurred in Międzyrzecz in Lubusz Voivodeship. A 1.5-year-old girl fell from a first-floor window. Her mother, who was pregnant and sober, suddenly felt unwell. The child was airlifted by helicopter to a hospital in Zielona Góra.
