On Thursday, the detained man was interrogated regarding the murder of a 53-year-old woman and the attempted murder of her 70-year-old partner. The prosecutor presented charges and requested a 3-month temporary arrest, which the court granted. The 68-year-old faces life imprisonment for the crimes.
The investigation is being conducted by the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw-Praga Północ.
The Incident
On February 3rd, before 10:00 PM, police received alarming information about a threat to human life. Police quickly arrived at the scene where they found that a 53-year-old woman and her 70-year-old partner had been attacked by the woman’s 68-year-old former partner, who fled after the attack.
Aftermath and Investigation
Despite immediate resuscitation by police, continued by medical personnel, the 53-year-old woman could not be saved. Her seriously injured partner was hospitalized. After less than an hour, officers from the capital’s Intelligence-Patrol Department arrested the man.
Under prosecutor supervision, police secured evidence at the scene, including a knife believed to be the weapon. The woman’s body was sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute. The next day, investigators took statements from the hospitalized 70-year-old.
Legal Proceedings
The 68-year-old was charged with murder and attempted murder. After being interrogated by the prosecutor, the court granted the prosecutor’s request for a 3-month temporary arrest. If convicted, the man faces life imprisonment.
