High‑Speed Crash in Otwock
Police reported that on Friday, November 28, a woman was travelling at 139 km/h on Warszawska Street in Otwock (Masovian Voivodeship). The speed far exceeded the 50 km/h limit for a built‑up area by 89 km/h.
When officers attempted to halt her, the driver did not respond to signals and continued driving, creating a severe threat to traffic safety.
Heavy Fines and Demerit Points
After identifying the driver, authorities imposed a total of 7,500 PLN in fines and added 30 demerit points to her driving record.
According to the Road Traffic Act of 20 June 1997, a speed over 50 km/h beyond the limit in a built‑up area can lead to licence revocation. The driver’s licence was suspended for three months.
Police Appeal to Drivers
Deputy Assistant Marcin Jabłoński of the Otwock Police Office demanded caution and responsibility on the road, noting that excessive speed and disregard for officer orders “pose extremely dangerous behaviours that can lead to tragic events”.
Policing officials urged everyone to prioritize the safety of all road users.
